Hohner
Automation Ltd. has entered into a
partnership with Rig Control Products. of
Aberdeen, with this new
partnership Hohner can now offer a safety monitoring system for
the travelling block. The improves rig safety by ensuring
that the velocity of the travelling block is monitored and
limited in an effort order to keep the block position within
pre-defined upper and lower limits of travel and the safe hook
load/velocity profile is configured for the system during the
commissioning phase. Thereafter, the system will monitor
the load, position and velocity of the hook and when required
will automatically apply the drawworks brake's, clutches and
throttle controls to arrest the load within the limits of
travel.
